The Russian Congress of Canada hosted a festive celebration of the Day of Russia in Toronto that took place at the Holy Trinity Church on June 12, 2015.
More than 100 people attended the cocktail party and the concert that followed the talk given by Halyna Mokrushina, a freelance journalist and Doctoral Student in Sociology at University of Ottawa, who was among the special guests at the event. Halyna shared the thoughts on her recent trip to Donetsk, Ukraine.
The guests enjoyed the wonderful children’s folklore ensemble “Ladushki” and the performance by the laureate of the 2015 Grand Moscow Festival singing competition bas – baritone Sergey Martsenyuk.
The veterans of WWII from the former Soviet Union who were among the numerous guests, despite their advanced age (some of them turned 93-94 years old), danced to the tunes of their youth under the accompaniment of a wonderful musician Dina Smolina.
