Celebrating Victory Day in Toronto!

On May 6, 2018, Earl Bales Park solemnly honoured Great Patriotic War veterans and welcomed all guests to the annual celebration of the Victory Day of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945)!
The Immortal Regiment of Canada, accompanied by a Motorized Regiment, marched solemnly along one of the main streets of Russian Toronto directly to the park, joining the parade at the Victory Memorial organized by volunteers every year. The draw of the Victory Banner, the Great Patriotic War veterans’ parade, the laying of flowers at the Victory Memorial, tribute speeches from the President of the Veterans’ Association of the Great Patriotic War from the USSR, V.N. Volkov; and Consul of the Russian Federation in Toronto, K.S. Mikhailov; as well as City Counselor, D. Pasternak. Celebrating by performing in Victory Day gala concert, by exhibiting thematic collections and presentations, re-enactment war games for children, riding motorcycles, souvenirs, soldiers’ buckwheat, and other dishes of former USSR, and much more will be remembered by the guests. We thank the Organizing Committee for this celebration of Victory Day in Toronto and everyone who took part in organizing and supporting our main holiday. We thank everyone who donated money to hold the celebrations, and thank you to everyone who volunteered and to those who paid their dues by coming to the park that day.
The Russian Congress of Canada congratulates all, and especially veterans, on the Victory Day holiday! We wish you health, happiness and a peaceful sky! Thank you, all, who brought Peace, and those who remember at what price that Peace was won! On May 9, veterans visited the Memorial to the Great Patriotic War Heroes, resurrected at the Slavic Farm. The defeat of fascism celebrations ended that evening, at the festive dinner, in the National Restaurant.
